White Space Analysis - Interferometric Measurements: Overview
White Space Analysis Objective
To conduct a White space analysis for capturing areas related to Interferometric measurements which have potential opportunity to file more patents.
The technical area of research is interferometric measurement beam which is used to explore region around spot of a working laser beam, in particular a depth profile and further obtaining the measurement information to provide feedback/instructions to the working laser beam, for example adjusting advancing speed of the working laser beam.
Scope
A comprehensive search to identify the relevant patents/patent applications of PRECITEC, LESSMUELLER & LASER MECHANISMS.
Analyze the patents/patent applications relevant to the above specified three assignees and covering the technology area of interest to identify white space and technology trends.
Study Coverage:
- Specific focus on interferometric measurement, measuring profile of work piece/ spots, using the feedback from the measuring profile to adjust the working of a laser beam.
- The analysis is performed on one representative patent member per patent family.
- The analysis is performed on worldwide jurisdiction focusing on EP, US and DE Patents/Patent Applications.
- Keywords and Class code based search strategies were formulated and search was performed on patent databases.
- Manual Screening was done based on the full text specification to identify potentially relevant assets.
Project Methodology
- Understanding the objective and scope of the project: Developing understanding that the project would include white space analysis on interferometric measurement.
- Identifying and selecting the right data sources: Patent search data sources such as Patseer, Questel Orbit, Espacenet were used to search the relevant patents from PRECITEC, LESSMUELLER & LASER MECHANISMS in the domain of interferometric measurement.
- Dataset Identification: Dataset of Patents/Patent Applications using relevant class codes and keywords were extracted.
- Dataset Analysis and Reporting: The data obtained from step 3 was manually analyzed by the Subject Matter Experts (SME’s). Furthermore, the analyzed information was also categorized as per various headers (Taxonomy).
- Report Delivery: White space analysis is delivered in specific formats.
